Summer Solstics Poetry

Dear friends,
This is the poem I read at the solstice gathering last night and
the warrior returns was read by Sinde-donated by Darlene.
We had so much fun and it really cleared my head of bad thoughts.
Thanx top Sinde for mentioning that kindness is a great intention
and it serves one well to be mindful of that trait.
Peace and enjoy

SUMMER SOLSTICE
Written 6.19.2006 by Kena

This quarter mark, summer solstice, bores its hole in the
year
When the golden, scorching rays of the sun overtake the
darkness
And burn their light longer than on any other day.
Maybe
it’s a cleansing…fire burn away our darkest shadows of doubt and
fear.
Maybe it’s enlightenment…light the way that we may see what
has always been there.
Maybe it’s a test of patience…will this
blistering, hot day ever end?
Maybe it’s a call from the universe…inspire us
to hear our inner yearning to be safely at home.
Maybe it’s a
holiday from the direction of the south…urging us to be as passionate
about something as the sun is hot.
Maybe it’s a lesson …learning the wisdom
to know we will endure.
Maybe it’s a sign of strength… not surrendering to
the hellish, earthly day.
Maybe it’s love…infusing us with warmth for
ourselves and others.
Maybe it’s a ray of truth…awakening our third
eyes.
Or maybe it’s just another hot, June day in the Sonoran
desert,
And we are all gathered to celebrate its warmth and
light.
A WARRIOR
RETURNS
Unknown author
It was summer and the
desert sun burned the earth into submission.
A healthy thing submission
was…
So much heat that your insides turned from lead to gold..
And your
thoughts left your body,
Because you were baking in the belly of God’s
love…
A love that brought you to your knees,
Like the gratitude of someone
dying…
A beauty and rapture of the saints and shamans…
A lineage of ancestors
to our umbilical cord,
These ancient ones who have walked before us…
Gave
us their wisdom by the transcendence of sorrow,
And the clarity of
enlightenment,
Which only pain can bring.
Never forget this moment in time when we existed here,
Because long
after we are gone,
Our brothers and sisters will feel what we have
felt,
And the presence of who we are,
That we left behind,
Will enable
them to withstand and accept,
The fire of love in their heart.
And the
gift to cherish this love is theirs,
Because today we turned fear into
gold,
To embrace our essence.
